Konrad, Ph.D., RNC-OB, LCCE, FACCE, shares insights into the session “Bridging the Gap: Integrating Doulas in the Hospital Through Childbirth Education.” This session, which is co-presented with Robin Elise Weiss, Ph.D., MPH, BDT/AdvCD(DONA), LCCE, FACCE, CLC, takes a look at the value and importance of synergizing the efforts of doulas, nurses and childbirth educators to elevate maternal care in hospitals.

Lamaze: What industry trend(s) or challenge(s) does your session address? Why does it matter for childbirth educators and perinatal professionals?
KK: The need for labor support from an interprofessional team has long been a need for laboring families. Doulas and nurses are an integral part of this team. CBEs can promote this team in their classes, communities and beyond.
