If you are reading this blog post, you are probably aware that Lamaze International’s blog for perinatal professionals - “Science & Sensibility” has a new name, “Connecting the Dots." The blog also has a new URL address: https://www.lamaze.org/Connecting-the-Dots
I love the new name! “Connecting the Dots” implies exactly what the purpose of this blog is:
- to inform professionals about new research and best practice.
- to share effective and engaging teaching strategies.
- to introduce readers to leaders in the field of maternal-infant care.
- to continue to raise awareness of the impact of maternal mortality on families, especially families of color.
- to provide and share useful resources that make all of us better childbirth educators and birth professionals.
New website
Lamaze International has also made the decision to aggregate the professionals’ website with the consumer website under one URL: Lamaze.org. Now everyone, professionals, health care providers, and consumers can find exactly what they need in one place, confident in the fact that the information has been updated, carefully collated and organized for ease of use for all who are seeking information on the childbearing year.
Lamaze International is committed to continuing to build connections with health care providers, who will find our resources a valuable asset for their patients. To that measure, we have an entire section of our new website dedicated to these professionals.
New logo
Connecting the Dots also speaks to our amazing new Lamaze International logo, which I also love. This logo is fresh, modern and the perfect look for an organization that helps people through pregnancy, birth, and parenting. It honors the foundations of the Six Healthy Birth Practices and I want to recognize the efforts it took on the part of the staff, contractors, and volunteers to create this new branding and new website.
What do all these changes mean for you?
Subscribe to the blog
If you never want to miss a new blog post, you can subscribe to Connecting the Dots, and have every new post delivered right to your inbox as soon as it is published. Just click on the “Subscribe by email” button in the righthand column and enter your email address. You will need to confirm your email by clicking on the link in the email sent to you by the subscription system and then you will be all set!
Update your links
Do you use former Science & Sensibility links to refer to information on your website? In your hard copy or online resource list for families or professionals? Other places? You will need to go and grab the new links for those pages and update your links everywhere you are directing people to the old site. In fact, any links that had “scienceandsensibility.org” or “lamazeinternational.org” will need to be updated. It is a bit time-consuming but important so that you and the people you are sharing information with can find what they need easily and effectively.
Check the links you use regularly
Do you access previous posts or webpages when you teach? Consistently show a video that you access from an old blog post or webpage? Make sure you do some advanced work to find the new link and have it ready, so you are not searching on the fly when you need it immediately.
New and improved member center
Log in to the new and improved member center and make sure your information is correct and current. This way both consumers and professionals can find you when they are looking for a Lamaze class or need to reach you. This takes just a minute but confirms that you receive all the important emails that Lamaze International sends out and lets you be “found” in the member directory.
Cochrane Library
Confirm that you know where to find the Cochrane Library access page and can access articles when you want. The log-in procedures to access the Cochrane Library have changed. It is a good idea to give it a run-through before you need that
