What Lamaze has Learned About Mothers

Cara Terreri

This year, Lamaze International is celebrating 60 years of advancing safe and healthy pregnancy, birth, and early parenting through evidence-based education and advocacy. It's been a wild ride! As with any journey, it has been full of ups and downs, advances and set-backs, triumphs and loss, and every little milestone in between. And just like anything else in life, we have learned a lot. In honor of Mother's Day, we want to share with you just a few of the wonderful things we've learned about mothers over the last 60 years.

In 60 Years, Lamaze has Learned that Mothers...

are the true experts.

are powerful, even (especially) when they are vulnerable.

know their babies.

have lots of different feelings about pregnancy, birth, and parenting.

are capable.

are resilient.

investigate.

are surprised by their babies.

have a wide range of emotions.

want the best for their families.

deserve respect and honesty.

can handle a whole lot.

love to learn.

are playful and curious and funny.

are attentive.

are so tired.

speak up.

don't always like pregnancy or parenting.

are intricate and complex and awesome.

are sometimes afraid to speak up.

are vital and essential members of our communities.

should not be underestimated!

are strong.

Help Us Keep Supporting Mothers

What will the next 60 years bring? We plan to keep supporting and educating and advocating for mothers as long as mothers are around -- but we can't do it without your help! In honor of Mother's Day, please consider a charitable gift in support of Lamaze International. No amount is too small and it's tax deductible! Do it in honor of yourself and/or the mothers you know and love in your life.

We’re working hard to meet the challenges of supporting and educating parents and families everywhere. A charitable donation allows us to provide parents with the education they need to feel confident during pregnancy and birth, and to make informed choices.

Your gift will help us develop more online resources, maintain high quality continuing education for health care professionals, and extend our advocacy efforts to ensure healthy outcomes in under-resourced communities. One-hundred percent of your gift goes toward these efforts.

Thank you for your consideration and have a happy Mother's Day!
