A Pandemic & Pregnant Valentine's Day - Fun Ways for Couples to Connect

Cara Terreri

Pregnant in the midst of a pandemic this Valentine's Day? You're in good company. In the United States alone, it's estimated that more than 19 million other people are pregnant right now, too. What's a pregnant, pandemic-bound couple to do this Valentine's Day? We've got ideas that are fun, help you connect, and allow you to keep your exposure risk very low.

Conversation games

When's the last time you and your partner spent time really getting to know each other? It's easy to get caught up in the day-to-day of a life in relationship that you miss out on the deeper, soul-connecting moments. Thankfully, others have addressed this problem by writing lots of long lists of couples' conversation starter questions. Print out a list and compare your answers over dinner! No matter how long you've been together, you're bound to uncover some surprising details.

Couples' vision board

A vision board can be as simple or elaborate as you like. Grab some poster board, a stack of magazines, glue sticks, and scissors, then let your imagination take the wheel. Decide in advance the topic for your vision boards (family goals, year ahead, vacation, bucket lists, etc.).

Dance lessons via YouTube

Learn a new dance together from the comfort of your own living room. You can find lots of dance instruction videos on YouTube, from the classical to the contemporary.

Cook a gourmet meal together

Plan and prepare a 5 course (or more!) meal together. Choose a culinary theme to make it even more adventurous. You can divvy up the courses and treat each other, or make each course a combined effort.

Couples' cooking competition

Ever watch Chopped? Do your own couples' version of this popular cooking contest. As for who judges and who wins? We'll leave that part up to you. Remember, it's all about having fun and doing something different.

Chocolate/cheese/ice cream tasting

If you prefer to keep the foodie fun to something simpler, skip the cooking and create a tasting instead. Get a selection of items in one category and start tasting. You can make it more formal by taking notes and doing the tasting "blind." Don't forget the palate cleansers in between!

Painting tutorial

If you're feeling crafty, pull up a YouTube painting tutorial to try together. You'll want to pick up all art the materials you'll need in advance, and prepare some fun snacks to accompany.

Spa night

Face masks, foot soaks, and manicures, oh my! Get all the ingredients you need to have a relaxing spa night at home. Put on instrumental music, light some candles, and prepare your space to be as spa-like as possible. Don't forget refreshing snacks and drinks!

Plan your babymoon or first family trip

Sit down and plan an amazing babymoon (last trip together before baby is born) or your first trip as a new family. Even if you don't book anything right away, you'll have all the details ready to go when you're ready to move forward.
