Well, Henci, you knew you'd be ask for your opinion on this!  LOL!  For whatever reason, my pop-up blockers won't let me post a link here, but as you probably already know, AJOG just published a meta-analysis concluding that home birth triples the neonatal death rate.  I'd love to know your thoughts on this, either here or in a separate blog post, if you'd like to link me to it.

I haven't seen the whole study, (just the press release from ACOG disguised as journalism), but is it true that the meta-analysis excludes the Johnson and Davis study?

I just got my hands on the study yesterday, but I haven't looked at it in detail. Amy Romano is going to tackle it on Science and Sensibility. She already has a short piece up and will be doing a more thorough piece shortly, so stay tuned. (She wrote the home birth chapter for the upcoming new version of Obstetric Myths Vs. Research Realities, so it made sense for her to field this particular ball.)

Responses to the Wax home birth meta-analysis are starting to appear. Here is one on "The Midwife Next Door," and here is a press release from CIMS.
