Welcome to the Lamaze International 2008 Annual Conference discussion forum! Lamaze is excited to be able to offer you what we think will be one of the most engaging educational experiences you'll have at an international conference. The Conference Committee recently completed selecting speakers for the concurrent sessions and we are pleased that you will have the opportunity to learn from these fine presenters. As soon as the registration brochure is ready we will start various discussion topics within this discussion forum. In years past people have connected with others for sharing rooms, rides and/or a pre-post conference adventure.
Please keep an eye on the Lamaze Web site for updates regarding our conference and its offerings. We encourage you to book your hotel room early, watch airfares for "deals" to Kentucky and prepare to have a great time. We are looking forward to seeing you in Louisville where we will be "Off and Running for Normal Birth!" |

I would like to make flight reservations for my trip out to Louisville as soon as possible. I know the dates of the conference are September 11-14, but what time should I try to arrive and also depart? I will be coming from California. I am not sure what the plans are for the conference and I don't want to miss any of it. So if you could give me this information, I can go ahead and get my plane reservations. Thank you.

Pam,
We are thrilled that you are planning on joining us in Louisville! We have so much excitement around this year's conference and look forward to seeing everyone there.
The core conference will begin at 6pm on Thursday evening and end at 12 noon on Sunday. Much more information will be coming your way very soon via the conference brochure and on the website.
Be sure to say hello to me when you get there---we'll give you a warm welcome.
Warmly,
Ann Grauer, Conference Chair |

I'm planning to attend the Lamaze conference but to help defray the costs I'm interested in finding a roommate. I'm a 50's something, married, grown children, Lamaze instructor from northern Indiana who will be attending the conference alone and I'd just like to make the trip a little more affordable. Anyone else out there interested?
Also, does anyone know if the conference provides c.e.u.'s? I have't been able to get a definite answer on that. It sure would be nice.

The Lamaze conference does provide contact hours for attendees who attend the sessions. You will receive Lamaze credit and nursing contact hours. In addition, if you need L-Cerps or R-Cerps, they are often available for many sessions. Finally, ACNM specialty credit is applied for. You can also receive retroactive credit from ICEA.
I hope this helps!

Hi, Vijaya
I responded to Priyanka (see forum) saying I was looking for a room mate and then I also saw your note as well. Would you be interested in sharing a two bed (Queen) with two other women? It might be fun.
I am a 57 woman from Seattle, WA and have been teaching since the mid-90's. I've travelled a great deal around the world and would love to share with other world travellers.
I have a wicked sense of humor and love to laugh and eat. Let me know if you have already made other arrangements or not. I've got a room booked and the total cost is around $315. It could be fun!

I have a question about the student discount for registration. Does that discount price of $320.00 cover the same that the member package price cover? I did just take the childbirth educator class in June and am a student Lamaze member as well as a student at St. Louis University. I am also looking for a roommate who has a room and is willing to share the costs. Please contact Patricia at patriciaa96@att.net or 314 968-4233 home or 314 503-8239 cell.
Look forward to hearing from you.

Hi Patricia,
Yes, students receive the same items included in the regular member registration package. In order to be considered for a student registration discount, applicants must provide proof of enrollment in a Lamaze Accredited Childbirth Educator Program or proof of status as a full-time undergraduate or graduate student. Submit all proofs of status to info@lamaze.org.
I see you just posted another announcement in the "roommates" section of the discussion forum, which is what I recommend for attendees seeking shared housing during their stay in Louisville.
If you have any additional questions, please let me know.

What documentation is needed for student registration? I attended The Family Way Educator seminar in April and am currently pursuing my MSN.
Thanks!
