I would be interested in hearing from other childbirth coordinators on their policy/procedure for instructors taking time off for vacations, school events etc. For example, would you allow an instructor to miss the first two weeks of the series (of 7 classes)? Once a schedule is posted, do you then allow for time off?  Any feedback would be helpful.

Each instructor is responsible for finding their own sub ahead of time.  If it is an emergency (sick child, personal illness, family emergency, etc) at the last minute I, as coordinator, will often be the last minute sub.  If an instructor has to miss 2 or more classes in a series the sub takes over the class.  We feel it is very important to provide a consistant instructor for each class.  Our schedule is completed a year in advance, but all the instructors are great about helping each other out.  Hope this helps!
