Let me add this from Thinking Woman's Guide to a Better Birth: The cesarean rate for babies weighing 8 lbs 13 oz or more (4000 g) was 3% in 1958 in the U.K. Roughly half of all babies in the U.S. in this weight range are delivered by cesarean surgery today, but, obviously, this says something about obstetricians, not women's pelvises.
