How about this: Problems and Hazards of Induction of Labor?

As for Enkin, yes, the book can be extremely helpful, but not always. It is based on the Cochrane Library's systematic reviews. Unfortunately, as the Cochrane Library grew and became mainstream, it stopped being the antidote to practice based on opinion and started being part of the problem, at least in some areas. Induction for postdates, induction for prelabor rupture of membranes at term, and induction with misoprostol (Cytotec) are some of them. The problem is that when reviewers who think in terms of the medical model conduct reviews, it unconsciously affects what they see and what they don't and what they consider important and what they don't. Hi Henci I'm a midwifery student and am trying to put together a information sheet for women who either want to have an induction or have been told by dr/midwives that an induction is on the cards. I need to have evidence based information, yet recently when i was reading your book on obstetric myths, i realised how hard it is to provide information so that a woman can make an informed consent. Have you got any ideas on where i should start? Is effective care in childbirth Enkin et al. really the bible that our lecturers believe it to be? Thanks, Samantha By: sam
