Alternet has just posted as its lead health story a full-length feature story on What Women Aren't Being Told about birth. I wrote the piece along with Manda Aufochs Gillespie, and we encourage everyone here to have a look at it! It cites the Listening to Mothers II survey extensively, with some quotes from Henci Goer's book as well. If you do read it, leave a comment--We'd love to know what you think!

Best wishes to everyone expecting and caring for a new baby!

Thanks for this excellent article! More importantly, I'm delighted to see it on a site other than those preaching to the choir. With all the new books such as Pushed and Born in the USA, documentaries such as The Business of Being Born, productions of Birth: The Play, and articles such as yours both in the print media and online, I keep hoping we'll reach the point where childbearing women stand up for themselves and say they aren't going to take this anymore. For the sake of our health and the health of our babies, both physical and mental, may that day come soon.

Hi ,I am a neonatologist with 12 year expirience of  TRYING to treat worst neonatal cases from a district . Apart from treting , I strted taking detailed History .I was stunned to find out that majority of our sick babies came to us because of UNNESSESARY ,POTENTIALLY HARMFUL interventions rather than lack of care .

1 How mother and grand mother Decide about C section

I have tried to form a Scoring system

2 Why some preterm babies die despite best neonatal care ?

\  Why some preterm babies survive without any medical care ?

3 Has ROUTINE suctioning of ALL neonates actually INCEASED incidence of ASIRATION ?

After along time I just found the right place to help me in my mission

THANKS HANCIE
