RE: Water Labor & Intermittent Monitoring |
| Message: |
Thank-you Amy for your reply! I found the website about a womans's birthing rights very informative! I plan to discuss signing an "Against Medical Advice Waiver" concerning intermittent fetal monitoring via fetoscope or doppler instead of continuous fetal monitoring. If I can get my doctor to agree to this then there should be no reason not to allow me to labor in water. Unfortunately the hospital does not have waterproof monitoring equipment and no telemetric units either. I have contacted ICAN on several ocassions over the last couple months for care provider recommendations but have yet to receive any replies. It may be hard for them as they have no local chapters here. I have also contacted every care provider listed in our local phone book and on the internet but so far my doctor's practice is the only one that will do VBACs in our area. It looks as though this birth may be an uphill battle but we are very sure of our decision and are willing to fight! We will be sure to let you know how it goes! Thanks! Robin
