Hi. I am 6 months pregnant. I really want to give birth at home where I am comfortable, and where I feel like my stress levels would be reduced.  However, I live in a country where this is not allowed, and apparently I 'have' to go to hospital and stay there for 4 days after the birth.  I am very upset about this - I have never been in hospital since I was born, and Iam perfectly healthy. It seems to me like gicing birth is a natural thing, not a medical procedure.  I don't want to give birth on a crowded ward. What can I do?  Is it safe to give birth at home without the help of a doctor?  I don't know if I can get a midwife to come to my home. I am scared that they may force me into hospital.

Where do you live? Almost every country has home birth midwives, although they may be hidden. I know people who are familiar with the international birth scene. If I can get you the name of one person in your country, that person should be able to lead you to others. Write me at Goersitemail@aol.com so that I can respond to you privately.

China and Russia still do birth like this.
Maybe there?

There are any number of countries where the system is as draconian as this. I would still be willing to bet that there is an underground home birth movement. Opression always breeds resistance. Unfortunately, I haven't heard any more from this poster.

P.S. If I am remembering right, weren't you having trouble getting this site to accept posts? I'm glad to see the problem has resolved.
