WASHINGTON (July 26, 2009)—InJoy Birth and Parenting Education, Inc.recently launched www.mothersadvocate.org, a new Web site that provides expectant parents and childbirth educators with free, easy-to-use information that helps expectant parents have safer and healthier births.
Healthy Birth Your Way: Six Steps to a Safer Birth is the first product available on www.mothersadvocate.org and was co-produced with Lamaze International. A printable18-page booklet and seven online video clips teach parents how to have a better birth experience through six simple steps that have been shown to reduce intervention and cesarean surgery rates.
Lamaze International developed the Six Lamaze Healthy Birth Practices based on recommendations by the World Health Organization (WHO), and backed by extensive research that support a woman’s natural ability to give birth.
The site was created for expectant parents to use; however, InJoy encourages childbirth educators to use the Web site and share these evidence-based materials with their students. The products on www.mothersadvocate.org are free to print, distribute, and share with others. In addition, other organizations are welcome to promote the video clips and PDFs from their own Web sites.
InJoy is partnering with leading maternal health education and advocacy organizations to develop future Mother’s Advocate products. All products are provided at no charge and may be freely duplicated and distributed.
