Research

Evidence-based practice means using quality scientific information for making a judgment. By identifying well-conducted research and applying it to practice, we believe that health care providers will improve the quality of care to mothers and babies.

Lamaze International offers the following resources to help maternal-child health professionals access the latest research:

Research Summaries for Normal Birth: The Lamaze Institute for Normal Birth has provided an easy way for busy childbirth professionals to stay up-to-date on the latest evidence that supports normal birth through a free e-newsletter.

When Research is Flawed: The Lamaze Institute for Normal Birth has developed brief critiques of some influential studies that have shaped policy and practice. These critiques are meant to help childbirth professionals evaluate the quality of evidence on these important topics.

The Journal of Perinatal Education: The journal features provide practical resources and advice educators can use to enhance the quality and effectiveness of their teaching to prepare expectant parents for birth.
