Renew Your Certification

Now Open! New Online Recertification Application and Contact Hour Tracking Tool

Due to recertify in June?

  • We have made the move from paper to online recertification to streamline processing and serve you better!
  • Visit the online Certification Center to begin tracking your contact hours.
  • When you have the required 25 contact hours you will be able to complete your recertification application online.
  • Use the quick tips below to get started now!

Quick tips to make recertification quick, easy, and efficient!

  1. Collect copies of your continuing education certificates, letters from mentors, and other documents clearly supporting that you have completed your 25 contact hour requirements.
  2. One of your contact hours must be in ethics. You may fulfill this requirement by completing one of our ethics homestudies in JPE volume 18.1 (part 1 & 2), 18.13, 18.14 and 18.15 (visit the Online Education store), or by attending an appropriate ethics session by an approved provider.
  3. While we no longer require you to upload documentation for your recertification, we do audit 10% of our candidates. Be prepared by scanning your documents and saving them to a clearly marked file on your computer. If audited, you’ll be ready to upload your documentation to the online Certification Center. This is also a great way to know how many contact hours you still need!

Recertification Requirements

In order to maintain certification status, LCCE educators must recertify every three years. There are two recertification deadlines each year:  June 30 and December 31. To confirm the date you are due to recertify, check the expiration date on your Lamaze Certification Card or login to the member center to access your member profile and certification information. Read more about the recertification requirements and options below.

Option 1: Recertification by Continuing Education

LCCE educators must submit 25 contact hours of approved continuing education credit, one of which must pertain to ethics. All credits completed must be applicable to childbirth education and completed within the past three years. All continuing education programs submitted for recertification should be applicable to one of the Competency Statements for LCCE Educators. Lamaze International accepts continuing education credit from a variety of approved providers. Consult the Lamaze Recertification Brochure for a complete list of approved providers of continuing education. Lamaze International also offers a variety of continuing education programs that may be used to satisfy your recertification requirements for continuing education.

Up to 10 of the 25 hours may be submitted in the form of alternate credit. In some instances submissions of more than 10 hours of alternate credit may be reviewed and approved on a case-by-case-basis.

LCCE educators applying for recertification by continuing education must document each continuing education submission as indicated on their application form. Applicants do not need to provide supporting documentation unless they are audited. Lamaze International conducts a random audit of 10 percent of the applications submitted. Applicants selected for audit will be asked to send supporting documentation for each of the continuing education programs listed on their application.
