Childbirth educators, nurses, doulas, health specialists and other health care professionals who work with adolescent parents and their partners for birth and parenting.
Focus:
Serving pregnant teens is an exciting, challenging, and important role. Committed adults can make a huge difference in a teen parent's life by providing quality preparation for pregnancy, birth, and postpartum. This workshop is designed to equip you with the skills needed to help teens approach birth with confidence and prepare for early parenting. The focus of this hands-on, experiential workshop is empowerment and respect for adolescents during the childbearing year. The instructor will model interactive teaching techniques that work best with young people. Teaching strategies geared to each topic will be demonstrated and creative learning activities will be shared and explored through small group work.

- Creative ideas to reach teens effectively
- A continuing connection with others through a teen support Web page
- A renewed commitment to support teens in the childbearing year
Outcomes:
Participants will improve the skills needed to help teens develop their own self-confidence in birthing, be successful in breastfeeding and prepare for early parenting. Each participant who completes this workshop will receive a student workbook, access to a special Web page for additional materials, and a certificate of completion.
