One concurrent session (1 1/2 hours in length) has been reserved for several 20-minute oral presentations of research papers regarding childbirth and perinatal education. Lamaze International encourages practicing perinatal educators, researchers, masters and doctoral students to apply.
An expert panel will review and evaluate all papers and grant $250 awards to selected papers (see evaluation criterion below for research papers). The research must be original and not published prior to Sunday, December 31, 2008. Presenters are responsible for all expenses related to their presentation, including registration and travel.

Evaluation Criteria for Poster Presentations: An expert panel of the Education Council Research Committee will evaluate research paper presentations which have been accepted by the Conference Committee and presented at the conference. The committee will review the research papers according to the specified requirements below:
- Question is clearly stated.
- Questions is significant for health care of women.
- Relationship of the questions to previous research is made clear.
- Design is described adequately.
- Population and sample are described adequately.
- Data collection procedures are appropriate.
- Analysis methods are appropriate.
- Analysis seems correct.
- Results are presented clearly.
- Conclusions are substantiated by the data.
- Application to childbirth education and/or health care of women is clearly stated.
- Future research questions/issues are clearly identified.
- Presentation style of speaker is appropriate to the audience.
- Speaker responds to questions appropriately.
- Audio-visuals are appropriate and easy to use.
The Conference Planning Committee will notify the primary submitter regarding acceptance by March 1, 2008 after complete review and consideration. The panel may recommend that some submissions be presented in poster format for evaluation in that category. Abstracts not selected will be held on file for one year. If selected, Lamaze International reserves the right to edit the title, description and outline for clarity and to meet space requirements.
