Renew My Certification

In order to maintain certification status, LCCE educators must recertify every three years. There are two recertification deadlines each year:  June 30 and December 31. Upon initial certification, LCCE educators are assigned a recertification date that is three years from the date closest to their original certification. To confirm the date you are due to recertify, check the expiration date on your Lamaze Certification Card or feel free to contact the Lamaze Administrative Office.

Recertification reminder notices will be sent via email to all LCCE Educators as early as nine months prior to their respective recertification dates. Printer-friendly copies of the Recertification Booklet and Recertification Application are available for download. It is recommended that you start the process at least three months prior to their due dates.

Option 1: Recertification by Continuing Education

LCCE educators must submit 25 contact hours of approved continuing education credit that is applicable to childbirth education and has been completed within the past three years. All continuing education programs submitted for recertification should be applicable to one of the Competency Statements for LCCE Educators. Lamaze International accepts continuing education credit from a variety of approved providers. Consult the Lamaze Recertification Brochure for a complete list of approved providers of continuing education. Lamaze International also offers a variety of continuing education programs that may be used to satisfy your recertification requirements for continuing education.

Up to 10 of the 25 hours may be submitted in the form of alternate credit. In some instances submissions of more than 10 hours of alternate credit may be reviewed and approved on a case-by-case-basis.

LCCE educators applying for recertification by continuing education must document each continuing education submission as indicated on their application form. Applicants do not need to provide supporting documentation unless they are audited. Lamaze International conducts a random audit of 10 percent of the applications submitted. Applicants selected for audit will be asked to send supporting documentation for each of the continuing education programs listed on their application.
