Lamaze Continuing Education Contact Hour Opportunities
|
Lamaze continuing education homestudies are available to childbirth educators, nurses and other maternal-child health professionals seeking quality continuing education that is both affordable and convenient. Lamaze International is approved as a provider of continuing education in nursing by the Virginia Nurses Association, which is accredited as an approver of continuing education in nursing by the American Nurses Credentialing Center's Commission on Accreditation. Information, including price and order instructions, is listed below.
For homestudies based on articles selected from The Journal of Perinatal Education:
Members: Access the JPE article referenced in the homestudy in the 'Members Only' section (JPE articles are free to current members), complete the questionaire and pay for the module.
Non-Members: Access the JPE article referenced in the homestudy from the Ingenta Web site, pay for the article, complete the questionaire and pay for the module.
For homestudies based on educational sessions from past Lamaze Annual Conferences:
Members and Non-Members: Order the homestudy in the Lamaze Bookstore and Media Center (be sure to log in to get your member discount), complete the homestudy paperwork included in the materials and mail it to the Lamaze Administrative Office.

The overall goal of "A Review of Biochemical and Ultrasound Markers in the Detection of Down Syndrome" is to increase perinatal educators’ understanding of Down syndrome, the most common genetic cause of mental retardation in newborn infants. More specifically, the purpose of the article is to inform perinatal educators about the etiology of Down syndrome, the population of women who are at risk for having an affected fetus, the second-trimester screening and diagnostic tests for Down syndrome, and the efficacy of these prenatal screening tests. Lamaze International presents a two-track homestudy based on selected sessions presented at the Lamaze International 2004 Annual Conference in Fort Lauderdale, FL.
