Lamaze Volunteer Opportunities

Board of Director Nominations

Lamaze International is seeking qualified, active, visionary leaders among our members to run for elected office. Lamaze is your organization and your involvement is critical!

If you feel passionate about the Lamaze mission to promote natural, safe and healthy birth, and are willing to volunteer your time and leadership talent, consider running for the Board of Directors.  You are also invited to nominate potential candidates by sending some background about the individual, along with their contact information, to director@lamaze.org. Board candidates must be Lamaze members in order to run for election..

Interested candidates will need to complete the Board Candidate Questionnaire and submit a CV/resume by February 27, 2010 to director@lamaze.org.

    Lamaze Annual Conference Committee Chair

    Plan, schedule, and conduct the Lamaze Annual Conference, including but not limited to, multiple concurrent sessions, general sessions, and networking / social functions and  tradeshow.  Review all conference abstracts, establish conference theme and objectives, and finalize educational program.  
    The Chair of the Lamaze Annual Conference Committee shall meet the following qualifications:

    • Past attendance and experience presenting  at Lamaze conference and/or other industry related conferences.
    • A broad knowledge of the field of childbirth and perinatal education, its current trends and advances.
    • Ability to lead and direct small groups.  
    • Member of Lamaze International. 
    • LCCE certification preferred.

    Lamaze Institute of Safe and Healthy Birth Chair

    Purpose: The Lamaze Institute of Safe and Healthy Birth was launched to support initiatives that provide credible, relevant and useful information about safe and healthy birth to new and expectant parents and childbirth professionals.

    The Chair of the Lamaze Institute of Safe and Healthy Birth shall meet the following qualifications:

  • LCCE Certification preferred
  • Demonstrated knowledge and commitment to advancing safe and healthy birth through consumer education, media outreach, collaboration and advocacy efforts.
  • Ability to represent Lamaze to the media, sister organizations and governmental agencies.
  • A broad knowledge of the field of childbirth and perinatal education, its current trends and advances, and research pertinent to the field. 
  • Ability to lead and direct small groups.
  • Member of Lamaze International and actively involved as a Lamaze Volunteer in the past 5 years.

    Contribute to Genesis or eNews

    Lamaze is seeking content contributors for the bi-weekly issues of Genesis, now with more targeted content, delivered in a new, more timely and user-friendly format. By sending Genesis out more frequently, we hope to improve member communication and value. Six issues per year will be “summary” issues that will reach both member and non-member audiences to update all Lamaze supporters on the latest research, educational opportunities, discussions in the news and general activities. Writing for Genesisis your chance to reach thousands of colleagues in the birth community with your tips and success stories!

    If you would like to make a contribution to the next issue of Genesis or eNews, read more about Lamaze publications online. Please send submissions of 100 words or less to editor@lamaze.org.

    Certification Exam Item Writing

    LCCE Educators interested in contributing to the exam writing process are welcome to submit items to the Certification Council for review. Educators who submit 10 questions can earn up to 10 alternate credit hours toward their recertification upon approval of submissions.     Join the Contact Hour Committee

    Contact Hour Review and Approval Sub-Committee: Reviews contact hour applications submitted by outside organizations requesting Lamaze contact hours

    Independent Study Development Sub-Committee: Writes homestudies based on articles from the Journal of Perinatal Education and sessions at the Lamaze International Annual Conference

    Additional benefits to serving on the Contact Hour Committee include:

    • Exploring the depth of your Lamaze International membership
    • Collaborating with Lamaze International members from across the country
    • Enhancing your professional career with the acquisition of knowledge of the contact hour award process
    • Reviewing workshops offered and learning about exciting programs you can attend
    • Earning alternative credit for recertification as a working member of one of the sub-committees

    Love to read or watch DVDs? Write your reaction and recommendations to DVDs and books hot off the press? The JPE Media Review Coordinator is always looking for fresh reviewers. Have a new resource that you think should be reviewed? Forward it! You can earn alternate contact hours by completing published reviews for JPE.
